Power generator requirement of Data Center

With the wide application of Internet technology, more and more data centers (IDC, English abbreviation of Internet Data Center) have been built all over the world. The data center should not only provide a large amount of data information storage space, but also ensure the security of the data stored therein. An enterprise may have its own server (the specific equipment providing data access, which is called server in Hong Kong and Taiwan), but for security reasons, they may store their own server in a third-party data center for hosting. Of course, many companies may rent servers provided by data centers. Banks and insurance companies, stock exchanges and large Internet companies will build their own proprietary data centers. All kinds of information and online disks in our e-mail, wechat and other chat tools will occupy the storage space it needs in one or several data centers. Our bank deposits and securities assets are only a few records of the special data centers of banks and stock exchanges. It is conceivable how important the security of data information is for all enterprises and individuals!

Power supply is a very important link in ensuring the security of the data center. In addition to the two-way mains power supply, there should also be standby generator sets designed according to different grade requirements (at present, most of them are diesel generator sets). For the data center, a power failure (when the mains power fails, the standby generator unit fails to play the standby function) is a major accident, so the power failure should be resolutely eliminated.

Generator set selection criteria

1. The standby generator set needs to continuously supply power to the main equipment of the data center during the mains power failure, so the continuous load capacity and reliability of the generator set are particularly important.

2. In order to provide power to the server as soon as possible, the sudden loading capacity of the generator set (usually refers to loading more than 25% of the nameplate power of the generator set in one step) is particularly strong.

Therefore, higher-level data centers usually require generator sets with nameplate power of continuous power when bidding for standby generator sets. In order to ensure sufficient sudden load capacity, engines with a certain power will also be required to reach a certain total exhaust volume (the greater the total exhaust volume, the greater the average effective pressure reserve that the engine can provide, and the stronger the sudden load capacity).

3. Requirements for fuel system type. At present, the generator sets sold on the market are mainly mechanical electronic (mechanical throttle actuator, equipped with electronic governor, commonly known as "electric regulation" engine) and all electronic (electronic fuel injection quantity controller, which integrates digital speed controller, air-fuel ratio controller, engine monitoring and protection system, operation record, communication function, etc.) to adjust the speed, commonly known as "electronic injection" engine). All electronic engine has stable steady-state operation (minimal frequency fluctuation) and good transient response (strong sudden loading capacity), which are the basic type requirements of high-level data center.
